HOW TO FIX A WIRELESS INTERNET CONNECTION

I Am Connected To The Internet But I Can’t Browse A Website

We have 2 computers at home, a desktop and a laptop computer. The desktop is directly connected to the DSL Moden through an Ethernet Cable Connection. The laptop connects to the internet through wireless connection provided by the 2Wire DSL

Modem. The computer desktop is working fine but the laptop connection is having a problem. My network connection says “Connected” but when I try to log on to a website the result would give me a ” Cannot Find Server. Page can not be displayed” message. My wireless connection was working fine before. What should have caused the problem and how do I fix it?

Helpful Suggestions :

This wireless connection problem can be caused by IP Address interruption. It can happen anytime and sometimes after installing a software. We have some suggestions that would be of help to fix your connection problems :

Before stepping into some complicated trouble shooting techniques, try to :

  • Try to Look first at the computer icon located at the lower right corner of your screen. You can see it where the clock is. Right click on that computer icon and click “diagnose and repair”.It will trouble shoot your network connection and renew your IP Address. If it doesn’t work,
  • Try rebooting your modem and see if it fixes the problem. Shut down your computer then unplug the power of your DSL Modem. Leave it unplugged for about 30 seconds. Turn on your computer then plug back the power of your DSL Modem. If you’re still having same problems, try rebooting your Modem three times. This time, leave it unplugged for 30 minutes and see if it works that way.

If the problem still persist, Reset your IP Address manually. To reset your IP address :

  • Click Start, Run, type cmd, then click Enter. A command prompt (small black window) opens. On the blinking cursor type in ipconfig/release and press Enter. On the next blinking cursor type in ipconfig/renew to renew your IP address and press Enter. Press Exit to close the Command Prompt. Restart your computer.

If after all those rebooting and stuff and you can’t still access the internet, shut down your computer and leave it off for at least 24 hours or much better 48 hours or 2 days.

I hope by the time you open your company after having it rested for a day or 2, you will be able to access the internet without having any problems at all.

Goodluck!
